Employee Requirements

If you have any specific skill(s) like fly fishing, wrangling, cooking, working on car engines, computers, etc, please let us know when you fill out the application online. This will help us put you into a department best for you and for the ranch.

Employment will depend on the dates you are able to work, what jobs are available, and of course your references and past job history. Harmel’s is a summer operation, therefore, offering only full-time, summer seasonal work. As the summer progresses, you may be expected to fill any or all of our ranch jobs. You must be in good health and must be able to work every day of the month.

We hire primarily college-aged staff from all over the States and some from outside the country. Harmel’s staff members are top-drawer young people with appreciation and respect for our country and our western lifestyle. They are sharp, well groomed, well-mannered, respectful of Harmels, our guests and fellow co-workers. At Harmels, our staff associates closely with each other and our guests. We encourage our young people to take part in all of our guest activities and to use our facilities. Our staff is expected to maintain our casual dress code. There are no pets allowed for any of our seasonal employees.

This is a great place for Colorado Summer Employment! You must be at least 18 years old. If you are selected, you may not be assigned any specific job before you arrive, all employees are hired as “team players”. Being a Team Player means you are agreeing to work at whatever job we ask you to, even if it’s not the specific job you were hired for. We do our jobs, and then really enjoy the mountain lifestyle.

  • Wi-Fi
  • Utilities include electricity, water, sewer and garbage removal
  • Furnished bed: sheets, pillow, blanket and towels
  • Cleaning supplies provided
  • Laundry facilities
  • Employee discounts for gifts, sundries and fishing tackle
  • Discount of 20% for immediate family members on cabin rentals

Employee housing options are available.

We are fortunate to have 1.6 million acres of the Gunnison National Forest as our backyard. It’s also easy for our employees to take advantage of all we have to offer our guests. During your off time you may enjoy whitewater rafting, horseback riding, fly fishing (in private gold medal quality waters), hiking, mountain biking, rock climbing, hot tub, laundry facilities, and more. Not to mention, all of the strong and lasting friendships established between the seasonal employees that work here.

Please Note: Our resort is here because of our guests. This is not a resort just for the staff. While you are encouraged to enjoy what Harmels has to offer, you will also need to be mindful of our guests. Our staff is expected to be respectful, well-groomed, and helpful to our guests “on or off the clock.”

If you are the type of person that is easy to get along with, has an open mind, and feel that you are well-rounded this is just the place for you!
