Our cabins were clean and cozy with all the comforts of home! Diane helped us with all our questions and washers and dryers were on site. The owners are busy building beautiful new decks that overlook the Taylor River which is a fly fishing dream! John was most helpful in helping us find the best spots for fishing!! Gift shop was full of quality items. We cannot wait to return in July for a family wedding!
We stayed at Harmels Ranch a few years back, it was okay. This time the rooms are updated the fishing was great and the staff was amazing. We will be back. It is a 5 star destination!
My group and I had a fantastic experience with Harmel’s in August of 2022. Arriving from Louisiana, the beautiful mountain weather immediately had everyone in a fantastic mood. Our group of 4 stayed in one of the larger cabins and everyone had plenty of room to stretch out after a long day on the river. We opted for the guided fly fishing on Harmel’s private stretch of the Taylor River. Our guides, John and Rob were fantastic- going above and beyond. They were incredibly patient with those of us who were beginners and offered seasoned advise to those who were more advanced. Every single one of us got on a few fish which was an incredible experience. Highly recommend.
Stayed at the Harmels Resort August 23 thru the 25th. Awesome remodeled cabins with new wood floors and interior finishes. The restaurant, bar, store, and club house were also newly remodeled. Dinner on the patio overlooking the Taylor River was beautiful! All of the staff were very professional and treated us very well during our stay. The grounds were emaculate and well groomed. One of the best areas in the state that we have visited over the years as Colorado natives. We certainly will return in the future to enjoy the resort!

We do an annual fly fishing trip as an old college friend group and wanted to get back to Harmels on the Taylor again. We have been here once before and Harmels on the Taylor did not disappoint and I highly recommend this place to other groups. The cabin options there are great (we stayed in the large cabin #100 with plenty of room for all of us), offers privacy, walking distance to river, and the clubhouse is open 24hrs with a pool table and ping pong. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and welcoming and the place is just beautiful! Thank you Harmels on the Taylor!

We can't wait to come back to this little nugget we stumbled upon. Harmel's has everything you need to relax and enjoy what this area has to offer. The morning breakfast is part of your stay and is super helpful! This place really has it all . Im so glad we found it, and we look forward to coming back. The staff truly works as a team and this place is a Gem!
Harmel's is a great place to base camp out of with friends and or family!!! We have stayed here twice now, once with family and once with friends and it hasn't disappointed! At Harmel's, you can relax and enjoy the Taylor river flowing by, cook out, hang out in the lodge, participate in the activities they host, and enjoy good food and drink! The more active people in your group can hike some easy, moderate, and more challenging trails right from Harmel's. The hike to Harmel's point has breathtaking views of the area and over looks Harmel's, I highly recomend it- it's worth the climb! Fly fishing, rafting, horse back riding, all right at your fingertips!
We have been visiting Harmel’s since 2016. The renovated cabins are wonderful. The river is so beautiful and peaceful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Love having The restaurant and store on the property. So convenient! The coffee shop is an added bonus. We can’t imagine not going to Harmel’s every summer. It’s the perfect spot for a family vacation.

Excellent lodging on one of the best rivers in Colorado. Staff, services and management are outstanding. Every time we stay here is a special experience. Great fishing, rafting, hiking and relaxing. It’s one of my favorite spots in Colorado to spend time.
John was an outstanding fly fishing guide at Harmels on the Taylor. He was patient, knowledgeable, and really took the time to explain techniques that made the day both fun and successful. His expertise on the river put us right on the fish, and his friendly personality made the trip even better. Highly recommend booking with John if you’re headed to the Taylor!

My daughter had her wedding at Harmels, ceremony and reception. Savannah and her staff went above and beyond to accommodate all involved. It exceeded our expectations by far, and would recommend Harmels to all. The cabins were very nice and quaint. We ate breakfast, and lunch, and enjoyed the food. Absolutely beautiful, breathtaking outdoors.
My husband and I initially booked another wedding venue in Crested Butte, but after a less-than-ideal visit a year before our wedding, we were feeling uncertain about our choice. However, after the weekend fiasco, we decided to stop by and see if they had any availability—and I’m so glad we did! From the moment we walked in, we felt the warmth and hospitality of the staff. We enjoyed some whiskey, shared stories, and discussed the possibility of having our wedding at Harmels. The next day, we spent time by the river, went fly fishing, and knew without a doubt that this was the place where we wanted to get married. It was an unforgettable experience, and we ended up booking our wedding with them. Working with Savannah was a dream. Savannah was always available to answer questions, provide suggestions, and even worked directly with vendors to ensure everything ran smoothly. The location and atmosphere were perfect for our wedding. We still get compliments from guests about the meals, from the welcome dinner to the wedding itself. If you’re looking for a unique and memorable wedding experience in Crested Butte, I highly recommend booking Harmels.
There is something ethereal about a leisurely drive down Colorado’s Taylor River canyon in mid August. Eventually, the road flattens out a bit and then there you are-Harmel’s on the Taylor, an encampment four miles upriver from Almont that evokes visions of mining claims, horse stops and boardwalks with charming wooden cabins nestled along both sides o’ the Taylor. No wonder this is Fly Fishermans’ Paradise - the banks beckon you to stroll right in, rod in hand! The cabins are cool and breezy even midday, so no AC needed. Our compact cabin offered fridge, coffeemaker, TV, kitchen and a great hot shower to add enjoyment to our time at this little oasis at 8400 feet. Team Harmel’s staff complements the entire experience. With a tip of the ten gallon, we recall our time in this little river canyon paradise as the centerpiece of a fine few nights amidst incredible natural beauty (the smell of wet sage after rain-intoxicating!) Stop in sometime for a quiet respite of your own not far from the main trail - Harmel’s on the Taylor in Almont, CO.
